Symmetry (using LEGO MORE TO MATH and mirrors)

Wonderful lesson and woderful way so that children get the idea and work on symmetry.
First, the teacher introduces the concept.

When students get the concept, they start working on producing symmetric patterns. They build whatever they like to, using LEGO MORE TO MATH.

Then, with the help of a mirror, they check what they have to build so that bouth constructions are symmetric:

We've got the whole world in our hands

You can use this images to introduce the topic: LANDSCAPES.
Beautiful images of Spanish (and a Portuguese) lanscapes: rivers, mountains, lakes, the sea...

Then, you watch this wonderful video (do not forget to subscribe on YouTube: BAREFOOT BOOKS).

And you have already set a context to start creating landscapes using LEGO STORYSTARER. Very easy lesson and wonderful results, as you can see:

This is one of the lessons I have conducted. I have taken advantage of the blog for our ERASMUS + PROJECT :

You can find more ideas in the following link:

I share some of the sceneries children have produced using LEGO STORY STARTER. They are really creative and the results are superb!

Using Lego bricks for different purposes

The use of Lego bricks is naturally integrated in the carrusel activities that they carry out in the classroom. As you may know, our school Santísima Trinidad in Salamanca and Ynystawe Primary School are inmersed in the Erasmus + KA2 project 'Creating Tomorrow's School Today' which is mainly about the use of different resources, such as Lego Education sets.
This photo shows how they used Lego Bricks for counting in 5's. Some pupils were struggling and they used the bricks as a tangible material to count.

In this photo, they were building ideas related with deforestation:

And in this one, a SENCO teacher was working with some sounds that a boy was struggling with. Manipulating the bricks the pupil remembered better those sounds and how to produce them:

Astronaut skills

Here you have which I think is a great Science activity if you are teaching The Space topic with your pupils. Here you have the instructions and some photos.

Using Lego bricks and oven gloves they had to try and build a Lego model to test their dexterity:

As you can imagine they were all really engaged in the activity.
